And have you experienced this before?

Sometimes passages of scripture unlock easily for me to understand and apply to my life, but sometimes they can seem like an impenetrable vault!

With that in mind, I’ve decided that every now and then I’ll include in these daily interactions a helpful Scripture Study Tip that will equip you to more effectively unlock the treasury of scriptural knowledge. I hope you find them as helpful as I do!

Let’s get started.

Scripture Study Tip #1 – Ask lots of questions

Each passage of scripture is loaded with good stuff to help us live victoriously for Christ. (See 2 Timothy 3:16). In other words, the Bible gives us solutions and answers to life’s most crucial issues and questions.

The problem is we often don’t recognize the Word’s solutions, because we aren’t in the habit of reading it asking the right question(s). So the bottom line is, start asking a whole lot more of the right questions as you study scripture.

Here are a few solid questions to get you going…
  • ·       What does this show me about God’s character?
  • ·       What does this reveal about the human condition?
  • ·       Is there an example here of something to do or avoid doing?
  • ·       Is there a promise here to be claimed?
  • ·       Is there a truth to be believed?
  • ·       Is there a sin to be repented of?
  • ·       Is there a prayer to be prayed?

As you get more familiar with studying scripture and using this Study Tip, the Holy Spirit will give you dozens and even hundreds of other questions you can ask. So go ahead and give it a try and see what fresh insights await you.
